A Day in the Life of a Support Worker No two days are ever the same — and that’s what makes this work meaningful. A day might look like this: * Starting the morning with a check-in and a cuppa * Helping with daily tasks that make home feel manageable * Supporting someone to get out into the community * Attending appointments together * Listening — really listening. One of my favourite moments with my clients is listening to their stories. Stories of their childhood, their work experiences and the way they lived in a different time to myself. * Encouraging independence, not doing everything for someone * Writing notes, reflecting, and planning for the next shift But the most important part? It’s the small moments: • A laugh • A win that others might miss • Trust being built • Confidence slowly returning This work isn’t about fixing people. It’s about walking alongside them. Support should always feel safe, respectful and empowering. A good support worker becomes part of the community that assists each individual everyday remain independent and safe in their own home. Being a part of that team is a privilege and I for one and grateful that I can make a difference even just a small one to all the people around me. #supportworker #generationsservices
